Marco Albert is an Italian musician, improviser, cultural manager, and workshop leader, living in Mexico since 2013.

 

A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Polytechnic of Milan in the late 1990s, in 2001 he co-founded the collective audiovisual laboratory Otolab in Milan, where interactive and immersive installation projects are carried out, concerts, and multimedia audiovisual performances.

 

In 2005, he founded the improvisation trio Newtone2060 with drummer Cristiano Calcagnile and artist and activist Salvatore Sammartino on turntables. This group became an integral part of the radical improvisation music scene in Italy in the early 2000s.

His musical output (both as a solo artist and as a collaborator on other projects) has been released by independent national and international labels, including: Gruenrekorder (D), Stasisfield (USA), Setola di Maiale (ITA), Suplex (MX), and Public Eyesore (USA). ​

 

He has performed and given concerts in Europe, Canada, the United States, and Mexico. ​

 

In 2013, he moved to Oaxaca de Juárez (MX), where he founded and directed the independent cultural center El Huacal, open to the local and international artistic community, where avant-garde music concerts and series, painting and photography exhibitions, art workshops, and film and documentary screenings were organized. ​

 

He was part of the organizing committee of the international festival CANICAS, música periferia, in Oaxaca, where artists such as Peter Brötzmann, MoorMother, Makoto Kawabata, Gustavo Nandayapa, Michelle Gurevitch, Mohammad Reza Mortazavi, and Jana Rush, among others, performed.

 

Since 2023, he has lived in Mexico City, where he is an integral part of the music scene, as a soloist, in artistic projects and collaborations, and as a workshop leader.

His workshop activity focuses on the potential of the voice, in the workshop LA VOZ URGENTE, a vocal liberation laboratory.
